Usability
This is the most treatment Kind will sell for a municipal supply, and it suits a household that wants certified disinfection alongside genuine ion-exchange softening rather than conditioning. Its strongest attributes are the two stages that carry real performance certification: an NSF/ANSI 42 carbon bed rated around five years or 600,000 gallons, and an NSF/ANSI 55 UV chamber in a 316L stainless body. Metered softening removes up to 99 percent of hardness with regeneration triggered by measured use, and the resin is quoted at 15 to 20 years. The weakest attribute is that this configuration inherits every constraint in the range at once. It needs floor space, a drain, a brine tank refilled every four to six weeks and a 110V outlet, drops to 12 GPM, and adds an annual UV lamp and sleeve to the running costs. Kind still publishes no grain capacity for the resin bed and no dimensions for the assembled system, which are the two figures a buyer at this price most needs. At close to four thousand dollars at list it is priced against dealer-installed equipment from brands with published capacities and longer service histories. The trade is simplicity and running cost for the widest treatment coverage Kind offers on city water.

The E-4000UV adds Kind's 50-watt UV chamber to the E-4000's sediment, carbon and metered salt-based softening stages. The UV module is 316L stainless steel with a quartz sleeve, certified to NSF/ANSI 55, and needs a 110V outlet plus annual lamp and sleeve replacement. Filtration and softening are unchanged, so the system still runs 12 GPM on 1 in MNPT with a drain line and brine tank. It is Kind's most expensive city-water configuration.
