Express Water WH300SCKS 3-Stage Whole House System Heavy Metals
Keeps the sediment stage the Ultimate Protection drops, and targets metals rather than scale.
$548
Usability
For most buyers this is the right member of the WH300 family: it keeps the sediment stage the Ultimate Protection sacrifices, which is what protects the two expensive cartridges behind it, and it still carries KDF for chlorine, hydrogen sulfide and dissolved metals. Fifteen gallons per minute through 1 in ports handles a large house without a pressure drop, and it costs fifty dollars less than the Ultimate Protection while lasting longer in dirty water. What it will not do is anything about hardness - there is no scale treatment in this stack at all, so a hard-water house needs the Anti-Scale set or a softener alongside. Like everything in the whole house range it carries no NSF certification, and Express Water's 99 percent style reduction claims for it are unverified by any third party. The one-year warranty remains the weakest part of the proposition.
- Sediment first stage protects the KDF and carbon cartridges from particulate loading
- KDF stage handles chlorine, hydrogen sulfide and dissolved metals without media replacement chemistry
- Fifty dollars cheaper than the Ultimate Protection and better suited to dirty water
- 0.25 gallons per second through 1 in ports
- Three pressure gauges and a clear first-stage housing
- No backwash and no drain connection required
- No scale or hardness treatment in this configuration at all
- No NSF certification for any Express Water whole house system
- Reduction percentages are manufacturer-stated with no third-party verification
- One-year warranty on a $548 fixture
- 63 lbs and 29.25 in tall, needs a dedicated floor position
- Filter set life of 100,000 gallons is a ceiling, not a schedule - six months is realistic on poor water
The Heavy Metals configuration runs sediment, KDF and activated carbon block through the same three 4.5 x 20 in housings on a stainless steel frame. Rated at 0.25 gallons per second with 1 in connections, three pressure gauges and a filter set life of up to 100,000 gallons or six to twelve months. It is Express Water's best-reviewed whole house system on its own site.
