Usability
The ROC001ALK is the same appliance as the ROC001 with a pH cartridge added, and the honest question is whether that cartridge is worth a 42 percent price increase. For most buyers it is not: the remineralisation stage addresses taste, not safety, and Express Water publishes no pH range or mineral output to show what it actually delivers. What the money does buy is the only countertop unit in the range that combines instant hot, UV and remineralisation in one plug-in box, which has no direct equivalent from Express Water's competitors at this size. Filter economics stay reasonable with carbon and pH stages on six months and the membrane up to twenty-four. There is no NSF listing, the reservoir still needs filling by hand, and at $426.99 it costs more than the whole-house two-stage system that treats an entire house.

The ROC001ALK adds a pH remineralisation cartridge to the ROC001 countertop platform, giving six stages including the UV LED. The 2 gallon reservoir, plug-in operation and instant hot function carry over unchanged. Express Water publishes clean water flow of 0.034 gallons per minute, a rated total net water volume of 1,500 litres, and a product size of 18.6 x 8.3 x 16 in.
