5.7 out of 10

EG4 prints 14.3 kWh, and 51.2 V times 280 Ah is 14,336 Wh, so it scores 8 on capacity.

At 286.6 lb on EG4's spec sheet it holds 50.0 Wh per pound, so it scores 4 on efficiency.

EG4's spec sheet rates the BMS at 140 A maximum continuous discharge, with 200 A allowed for 30 minutes, and 140 A is 0.5C on 280 Ah, so it scores 1 on operating range.

EG4's spec sheet rates it for more than 8,000 cycles at 0.5C and 80 percent depth of discharge and publishes no end-of-life capacity, so it scores 6 on lifespan.

It has a 224 W self-heater and CAN and RS485 closed-loop ports, but no Bluetooth, an IP20 case and no series connection, so it scores 6 on features.

Intertek's ETL directory lists the EG4 WallMount Indoor 280Ah, by its model code WM-48-280-1-IN-LL-00, as Listed to UL 1973 under EG4 Electronics LLC, lists it as part of UL 9540 energy storage systems with EG4's inverters, and EG4 publishes its UL 9540A test verification (240221012GZU-VOC001); it is also on the California Energy Commission's battery list, so it scores 8 on verification.

EG4's warranty gives it 10 years, with parts replacement throughout and a full replacement prorated one-tenth a year after the first year, so it scores 7 on warranty and support.

Warranty and returns

EG4's warranty pages give its XP off-grid inverters 5 years, its hybrid inverters 10, the MPPT100-48HV 3 and its WallMount batteries 10 years or 10,000 cycles prorated, each void for products not bought from an EG4 approved vendor.

Two r/SolarDIY owners discuss EG4's indoor WallMount batteries without naming the capacity: one running three of them with an EG4 hybrid inverter reports they lost their charge over a month on standby while still reading 100 percent, with the battery temperature logging 2°C (October 2025), and another calls the wall-mount batteries solid while faulting EG4's technical support over an inverter firmware problem (mid-2026).

DIY Solar Forum's thread on the Indoor 280Ah (April 2024, opened by EG4's support account) has owners welcoming the top-mounted connections and front display while faulting the breaker and power switch on the side, which keep units from standing flush together; in a firmware thread (December 2025 to January 2026) one owner updated four indoor units without trouble and another reports a failed update left two batteries non-functional with no support reply for a week. The Solar Lab, which links Signature Solar with a ref code and offers the code THESOLARLAB50, ran a 10,000 W continuous load and a 15 kW heater for about 10 seconds, and faulted the 30-second rapid shutdown and the weight (2024).
