BerkeyPF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic Reduction Elements, 2-Pack

PF-2 owners are the loudest voice in the flow-rate threads, describing the throughput drop after fitting them, and the element is also the focus of the aluminum-leaching discussion that runs through r/preppers and r/Berkey. The recurring maintenance advice is the same as for the primary elements: scrub and re-prime as flow degrades.

Coverage is consistent that a Berkey does not reduce fluoride in its standard configuration and that the PF-2 is the only route to it within the system, and equally consistent in flagging the independent aluminum result against the activated alumina media. No source disputes either point, which makes this the least contested part of the brand's written record.

Water Filter Guru's lab-test video, with roughly 945,000 views, tested a Berkey fitted with PF-2 elements and found aluminum at 1.44 ppm in the filtered city water sample where the unfiltered sample had none at all. The EPA limit is 0.2 ppm. The video attributes this directly to the activated alumina media in the PF-2.

Amazon carries the PF-2 2-pack at 4.6 out of 5 from 2,524 ratings at 103 dollars, matching authorized-dealer pricing exactly. That figure sits oddly against the lab finding on the same element, and is worth reading as owner satisfaction with fluoride taste rather than as evidence on the aluminum question. Amazon's Berkey sellers are third-party rather than NMCL-authorized, so this rates units bought outside the authorized channel; Amazon controls collection and the listing price matches authorized-dealer pricing exactly.
