This is the answer for renters and anyone who will not drill a sink, and the powered dispensing genuinely solves the thing people dislike about pitcher filters. Its strongest attribute is that it is the best-tested product Aquasana sells: two independent laboratories have run it against their own tap-water baselines, both measured 100 percent chlorine reduction and the near-complete removal of barium, copper, uranium, zinc, nitrate and strontium, and one rates it the best non-reverse-osmosis countertop filter of 26 tested while Consumer Reports scores it 80. Its weakest is capacity and price together: $399.99 for 300 gallons per filter, the shortest life Aquasana sells, against the $249.99 Direct Connect's 784. Both laboratories flagged fluoride, one measuring a 14 percent reduction and the other an increase it attributes to method, and one recorded total hardness down 89 percent while sodium rose 452 percent, which it reads as a cation-exchange stage doing its job. It needs a mains outlet, permanent counter space and hand refilling. The trade is genuinely measured filtration in the one form that requires no fixture at all, at the worst cost per gallon in the range.
- Independently lab-tested by two testers at 100% chlorine reduction, and rated best non-RO countertop filter of 26
- No installation, no plumbing and no drilling — fill, plug in, press
- Powered dispensing delivers 64 ounces in seconds rather than trickling like a pitcher
- WQA certified for all 78 contaminants on its performance data sheet, including PFOA and PFOS
- Portable at 6.2 lb, so it moves to the garage, an RV or outdoors
- 300 gallons per filter, the shortest capacity Aquasana sells, at $399.99
- Independent testing measured fluoride reduction at 14%, leaving it above its health guideline
- Sodium rose 452% in independent testing, from the cation-exchange stage
- Needs a mains outlet, permanent counter space and hand refilling
- Owner complaints centre on pump noise, inconsistent flow and a small tank
- 1-year limited warranty
The Clean Water Machine is Aquasana's only countertop system and the only product in the range that needs no plumbing at all. It is a powered dispenser: fill the tank, plug it in, press the button. A pump pushes water through the Claryum cartridge rather than letting gravity trickle it through, which is why it fills a glass in seconds where a pitcher takes minutes.
Claryum filtration here is the same technology as the under sink line, tested and certified to reduce up to 97% of chlorine, 99% of lead, asbestos and microplastics, 99.99% of cysts and 95% of PFOA and PFOS, along with chloramines, mercury, herbicides, pesticides, VOCs and pharmaceuticals.
Capacity is 300 gallons or about six months on a single filter, the shortest in the Aquasana range. The unit weighs 6.2 lb, needs a power outlet, and has a Quick Press function that dispenses 64 ounces without holding the button.
