Usability
The WTS-MAX-10 is the right size for a one to three bathroom house and the catalytic carbon bed is the correct media for chloraminated municipal supply, which ordinary activated carbon handles poorly. Its strongest attribute is service life: APEC quotes five to eight years before the media is replaced, and there is no cartridge to buy in between. Its weakest is that no system-level certification exists for it, and APEC's own wording is careful about this, stating that the media and components are NSF certified rather than that the system is. That is a component claim standing where a performance claim appears to be. APEC also publishes the service flow as 8 GPM on this page and 10 GPM on the Total Solution page that uses the same unit as its first stage, which is an inconsistency the buyer should resolve before sizing against peak demand.

The APEC Water Systems WTS-MAX-10 is a backwashing point-of-entry filtration system built on a 9 by 48 inch mineral tank holding one cubic foot of catalytic granular activated carbon, rated at 8 gallons per minute service flow and 12 gallons per minute peak. It carries a 1 inch FPT bypass adapter as standard and weighs 65 pounds. Optional fabric and stainless steel protective coats are sold as variants of the same product.
