Crystal Quest writes the best contaminant briefing in its catalogue on this page, explaining that arsenic reaches groundwater from natural deposits and from mining and agricultural runoff, and that it carries no taste, colour or odour at hazardous concentrations. That last point is the reason whole-house arsenic treatment exists, and very few manufacturers offer it at point of entry at all.
