Usability
This is the most complete answer Kind offers for a clear private well: sediment, certified carbon, real ion-exchange softening and certified UV disinfection in one purchase. Its strongest attributes are the two certified stages doing distinct jobs, an NSF/ANSI 42 backwashing carbon bed handling chlorine, taste and odour, and an NSF/ANSI 55 UV chamber in a 316L stainless body handling microbiology, with sediment and carbon upstream keeping the water clear enough for the lamp to be effective. Metered softening removes up to 99 percent of hardness with resin quoted at 15 to 20 years. The weakest attribute is cost against capability. At over four thousand three hundred dollars at list this is Kind's second most expensive system, yet it is still rated for 0 mg/L iron, hydrogen sulphide and manganese, so it cannot address the contaminants most well owners are treating for. No grain capacity is published for the resin bed. Running costs are the heaviest in the range: salt every four to six weeks, sediment cartridges, an annual UV lamp and quartz sleeve, a drain line and regeneration wastewater, plus mains power. Assembled dimensions for the UV build are not published, though the non-UV WS-6500 is already 62 inches wide. The trade is running cost and iron capability for the broadest certified coverage on a clean well.
- NSF/ANSI 55 certified UV chamber in a 316L stainless body with quartz sleeve
- NSF/ANSI 42 certified backwashing carbon bed for chlorine, taste and odour
- Metered ion exchange removing up to 99 percent of hardness, resin quoted at 15 to 20 years
- Sediment and carbon upstream keep water clear enough for effective UV on a well
- Lifetime limited warranty plus a 120-day satisfaction guarantee
- Kind's second most expensive system yet still rated for 0 mg/L iron, hydrogen sulphide and manganese
- No grain capacity published, so the softener cannot be sized against hardness
- Heaviest running costs in the range: salt, cartridges, annual UV lamp and sleeve, and regeneration wastewater
- Needs a drain line, a brine tank, a 110V outlet and indoor installation
- Assembled dimensions for the UV configuration are not published
The WS-6500UV adds Kind's 50-watt UV chamber to the WS-6500's sediment, backwashing carbon and metered salt-based softening stages, making four stages in total. The UV module is 316L stainless steel with a quartz sleeve and is certified to NSF/ANSI 55 for disinfection performance. It requires a 110V outlet, indoor installation and annual lamp and sleeve replacement, on top of a drain line and brine tank. Flow remains 12 GPM on 1 in MNPT.
