Usability
The WS-6500 is aimed at a well household with hard, chemically loaded but visually clear water that wants softening it can actually measure. Its strongest attribute is the combination of a long-life backwashing carbon bed certified to NSF/ANSI 42 with metered ion exchange removing up to 99 percent of calcium and magnesium, regenerating on measured use rather than a clock. That is a more complete answer than any salt-free Kind system gives, and the Smart View Meter reports flow, usage and remaining capacity in real time. The weakest attribute is footprint and disclosure together. At 62 inches wide this is the largest thing in the catalogue and needs a dedicated wall of utility space, and Kind still publishes no grain capacity for the resin bed, which is the number that decides whether the unit is correctly sized. Like the WS-6000 it is also rated for 0 mg/L iron, hydrogen sulphide and manganese despite the well-water label, so any well with staining or odour needs the WS-7000 or a WS-AIO ahead of it. Running costs include salt every four to six weeks, a drain connection and regeneration wastewater. The trade is size, salt handling and iron capability for genuinely soft, filtered water.
- Metered ion exchange removing up to 99 percent of calcium and magnesium
- NSF/ANSI 42 certified backwashing carbon bed rather than replaceable carbon cartridges
- Smart View Meter reporting flow rate, usage and remaining softening capacity
- Resin quoted at 15 to 20 years with salt refills every 4 to 6 weeks
- Lifetime limited warranty plus a 120-day satisfaction guarantee
- At 62 inches wide it is the largest system Kind sells and needs a dedicated utility wall
- No grain capacity published, so the softener cannot be sized against hardness
- Rated for 0 mg/L iron, hydrogen sulphide and manganese despite the well-water positioning
- No NSF/ANSI 44 certification claimed for the softening stage
- Requires a drain line, brine tank and regeneration wastewater
The WS-6500 is Kind's well-water system for buyers who want real ion-exchange softening alongside filtration. Three stages combine a 5-micron sediment cartridge, an NSF/ANSI 42 certified backwashing carbon bed and a metered salt-based softener removing up to 99 percent of hardness. It is the largest assembly Kind sells at 53 by 62 by 16 inches, runs 12 GPM on 1 in MNPT and needs a drain and brine tank. Published limits are 0 mg/L for iron, hydrogen sulphide and manganese.
