Usability
This is the right shape of system for a clear private well that carries a bacterial risk, which is a common and legitimate scenario. Its strongest attribute is that the UV stage is genuinely certified: NSF/ANSI 55 for disinfection performance in a 316L stainless chamber with a quartz sleeve, sitting downstream of a backwashing carbon bed and sediment pre-filter that keep the water clear enough for the lamp to work. That sequencing matters more on a well than on a municipal supply. The weakest attribute is the same contradiction the WS-6000 carries, sold for well water while rated at 0 mg/L iron, 0 mg/L hydrogen sulphide and 0 mg/L manganese, which rules out most wells that actually need treatment. At nearly three thousand nine hundred dollars at list it is also close to the WS-7000, which handles 7 mg/L iron and 1 mg/L each of sulphide and manganese for around thirteen hundred more, and that comparison is worth making before buying. Conditioning still leaves hardness in the water. Consumables include sediment cartridges and an annual UV lamp and quartz sleeve, and the system needs a 110V outlet and indoor installation. The trade is iron and sulphur capability for certified disinfection on an already-clean well.
- NSF/ANSI 55 certified UV chamber in a 316L stainless body with quartz sleeve
- Sediment and backwashing carbon upstream keep water clear enough for effective UV
- NSF/ANSI 42 certified carbon bed for chlorine, taste and odour
- Salt-free conditioning to 75 grains per gallon with no salt or brine discharge
- Smart View Meter giving live flow rate and usage
- Lifetime limited warranty plus a 120-day satisfaction guarantee
- Sold for well water but rated for 0 mg/L iron, 0 mg/L hydrogen sulphide and 0 mg/L manganese
- Close in price to the WS-7000, which does handle iron, sulphur and manganese
- Conditioning does not remove hardness, so post-install hardness tests read unchanged
- Requires a 110V outlet, indoor installation and annual lamp and sleeve replacement
- Assembled dimensions for the UV configuration are not published
The WS-6000UV adds Kind's 50-watt UV chamber to the WS-6000's sediment, backwashing carbon and salt-free conditioning stages. The UV module is 316L stainless steel with a quartz sleeve, certified to NSF/ANSI 55, and needs a 110V outlet plus annual lamp and sleeve replacement. Treatment is otherwise unchanged at 12 GPM on 1 in MNPT with hardness tolerance to 75 grains per gallon. Published limits remain 0 mg/L for iron, hydrogen sulphide and manganese.
