Mechanically this is the standard Matrixx, so everything true of the resin, porting and flow applies unchanged. What you are buying is DROP: continuous flow monitoring over WiFi with an automatic shutoff valve on the main. The case for it is straightforward insurance logic. A softener sits on a pressurised line, often in a finished basement, and the leak reports that appear in this brand's negative reviews are precisely the failure mode DROP exists to catch. Whether the premium over the base Matrixx is worth it depends entirely on what is downstream of the install location. On a slab with a floor drain, probably not. Above finished space, the maths changes quickly.
