What they say
HairMaxLaserBand 82
Four Reddit threads name the LaserBand 82, three in r/FemaleHairLoss and one in r/30PlusSkinCare.
A March 2022 owner (22-comment thread) paid $479 at 40 percent off from B-Glowing against $799 on hairmax.com, called it super easy and fast, and said HairMax's chatbot held her to one session every third day.
In a May 2024 thread (14 comments) about a $680 Memorial Day price, one owner said the 82 is the LaserBand 41 in a wider band that covers the scalp in 90 seconds instead of 3 minutes, and a November 2025 commenter who paid 500 euros on sale called it so tight it was practically unbearable.
An April 2026 thread (15 comments) notes frequent holiday sales and a coupon taking it to $600.
A September 2023 post on a LaserBand that does not name the model reports 3 to 5 minutes of fiddling to start a session, a tight fit and unanswered support emails, while a commenter reached phone support and was sent a larger comb that then sat too loose.
CapillusHairBand
Reddit discussion of Capillus centers on its caps, not the HairBand, which went on pre-order on September 23, 2026.
A June 2025 r/redlighttherapyhair thread (12 comments) reports a Capillus Spectrum that took two weeks to arrive with no tracking, unsealed packaging and residue inside the cap, though the owner rated build quality 8 out of 10.
A May 2026 report, posted in two threads, describes a Capillus cap returned for being too big, shown delivered by USPS tracking, and still unrefunded (about $2,000) six months later.
In a June 2025 r/redlighttherapy thread comparing Kiierr with the Capillus Pro (9 comments), two owners call the Capillus fit loose or wobbly, and a September 2024 thread (6 comments) reports the v4.6 battery pack discontinued, with rewiring for the newer pack costing a couple of hundred dollars.
One 2023 r/Hairloss commenter, hit by Theradome's 25 percent return deduction, named Capillus as the only brand upfront about its fee.

Two hands-on write-ups cover the LaserBand 82 ComfortFlex.
WIRED's August 2026 review by Kat Merck, which earns commission on its retail links to Amazon ($722) and Hairmax ($849), followed five months of use and credited the 90-second session and the charging cradle that keeps the band topped up.
The same review says the band had to be held in place anywhere but the very top of the head, calls the 30-second buzz between sections loud and slightly startling, and puts the price a few hundred dollars above similar devices.
The Daily Beast's Scouted shopping column (February 2026, Theresa Holland, over a year of use shared with her husband), which earns commission on its links, names the $849 price and the need to hold it by hand as its downsides and describes walking around the house mid-session with one hand on the band.
CapillusHairBand
Written coverage of the HairBand so far consists of reprints of Capillus's September 23, 2026 press release (PR Newswire, Trend Hunter, Fitt Insider, Brands Review Magazine), with no hands-on test.
The one current hands-on Capillus test is Wareable's September 2026 two-month review of the PRO, Spectrum and TriSpectrum caps, on a site that earns affiliate commissions on its Capillus links.
The tester found the 6-minute session far easier to keep up than Kiierr's 30 minutes, but had to recharge the battery every five to six days, about 36 minutes of use, and called the price, from $1,019.40 on sale, the main drawback.

Four independent channels show the LaserBand 82 in use.
Livin La Vida Tita's October 2023 video (10,728 views, stated not sponsored, no buy links) covers 18 months of use, says the band was charged fewer than ten times in that period, points to USB-C ports on both band and cradle, and calls the 30-second buzz cue foolproof; she bought a second unit at 25 percent off on Prime Day.
Silvia's Beauty and Lifestyle (January 2023, 11,153 views, bought with her own money, Amazon affiliate links in the description) found the fit good but said the band does not reach far enough forward at the front hairline, and her 13-month update puts the price she paid at $699.
Barbara's Home Sweet Home (April 2026, 214 views, an Amazon Influencer who earns commission on her link) has owned hers since February 2022 and calls it light enough to use while doing chores.
Brian Williams' May 2016 video (38,322 views, which earns commission through a HairMax affiliate link) on the earlier non-flexible LaserBand 82, then $795, says it has to be held on and his arms tired halfway through a session.
CapillusHairBand
No independent video covers the HairBand yet, so the pool rests on four owner videos of older Capillus caps from 2020 to 2023.
HairHoney's February 2022 video (11,414 views, a cap given to the creator's mother, channel links its own Etsy shop) calls the 272-laser cap massive and hard to keep on straight and notes slight warmth, on a cap that cost about $3,000.
Ryan's Reviews' December 2023 video (6,470 views, Amazon affiliate links) reports an eight-year-old Capillus still running, 3 to 4 sessions per charge, and a loose fit on a smaller head.
The Costco Review Guy's November 2020 first look at a Costco-bought Capillus 82 (about $900) found operation simple but felt itching or a burning sensation near the end of the 6-minute session.
Florencia Rodriguez's May 2023 video on the CapillusUltra (about 6,300 views) praises a battery pack that lasts several uses and the auto shutoff when the cap comes off.

The Amazon US listing (ASIN B08PC95NJ7, model 1030016), sold by Hairmax Official and shipped by Amazon at $721.65 against the $849 list price, holds 3.8 from 157 ratings, 59 percent five-star against 20 percent one-star, with 100-plus bought in the past month.
Ease of use is tagged 9 times, all positive, while reliability is tagged 19 times, quality 14 times and value for money 8 times, each with mixed sentiment.
Reviews quoted under the reliability and value tags describe a band that began failing after 2 months and sometimes refused to start, one that stopped working after about nine months (July 2024 to April 2025) once the return window had passed, and one that stopped charging.
One reviewer says the seller refused the 6-month money-back guarantee.
The LaserBand 41 (B06ZXZVP1L, 3.9 from 198) carries its own separate review file.
CapillusHairBand
The HairBand has no Amazon listing, so the closest Capillus file is the 82-laser CapillusUltra cap (currently unavailable, last listed at $995), which holds 3.8 from 391 ratings, split 53 percent five-star to 16 percent one-star.
Its tags show quality mentioned 27 times, ease of use 19 times and comfort 5 times, all positive, while fit (18 mentions) and value for money (15) are negative and adhesiveness (10) is mixed.
The caps now in stock, sold by Curallux, rate lower on small files: the PRO at $1,699 holds 3.4 from 12 ratings (39 percent five-star to 31 percent one-star) and the Pro S1 at $2,199 holds 3.1 from 17 (46 percent to 44 percent).
Separate older files for the Pro (3.4 from 80), Plus (3.5 from 77) and ONE (3.8 from 75) are all unavailable.

Costco has sold the LaserBand 82 twice, and both review files were written on Costco by verified buyers, with none syndicated or flagged incentivised.
The earlier standalone listing (costco.com product 100856465, $649.99 when listed, no longer live) holds 3.3 from 18 reviews posted July to December 2022, 5 five-star against 3 one-star, with 2 recommending and 3 not.
The current bundle with two HairMax serums (item 2069850, model LB82CF) holds 3.9 from 9 reviews posted July to September 2026, 5 five-star against 1 one-star, with 4 recommending and 2 not, which is under the ten-review floor on its own.
Across the 27, three reviewers call it quick or easy to use and one prefers it to a 25-minute helmet because they can walk around during a session.
Two found it inconvenient, one of them because it has to be moved section by section, one called it expensive, and one buyer says the order was returned to the manufacturer without arriving.
CapillusHairBand
The HairBand sells only on capillus.com, so the retailer pool is Costco's own review file for Capillus caps, which is native to Costco, not syndicated, and carries no incentive flags.
The CapillusUltra cap holds 3.35 from 353 reviews written in 2019 and 2020, with 151 reviewers recommending it to 88 not, a 63 percent recommend rate.
The current Capillus Pro Cap listing ($1,199.99 at Costco versus $1,699 on capillus.com) holds 3.46 from 67 reviews dated December 2023 to April 2025, split 14 to 14 on recommending it, and its low-rated reviews cite a unit that beeped nonstop and failed out of the box, a single cap size too small for two reviewers, a missing promised shampoo bundle, and price.
Across Costco's eight Capillus laser-cap listings, 238 reviewers recommend and 172 do not, a 58 percent rate.
