A $199 Spike Mat With 144 Red and Near-Infrared LEDs

Hooga's Red Light Therapy Acupressure Mat is a 26 x 18 in mat with 3,024 ABS plastic spikes and 144 dual-chip LEDs at 660 and 850 nm between them, run from a wall adapter on a single button that starts a fixed 15-minute session, at $199 with a matching pillow. Hooga states more than 100 mW/cm2 at the LED surface and 35 W of actual power; no reading has been published, so output is not scored. Hooga calls it a wellness device rather than an FDA-cleared one, and the ETL mark in its manual belongs to the power adapter, not the mat. Wareable, which earns commission on it, found the spikes sharp at first and the mat too small to cover the back without moving it, and the one Reddit owner returned it. Its Amazon listing has been taken down. The warranty is 2 years.

PROS
  • $199 for 144 LEDs over a 26 x 18 in surface
  • One-button 15-minute session with auto shut-off
  • ABS spikes named by Hooga, with a pillow included
  • Works as a plain acupressure mat, per two reviewers
  • 2-year warranty
CONS
  • Output never independently measured
  • Spikes sharp at first, per reviewers
  • Fixed 15-minute session
  • ETL mark covers the adapter only
  • Returned by the one Reddit owner
  • Amazon listing taken down

The Hooga Red Light Therapy Acupressure Mat is a 26 x 18 in mat (25.98 x 16.14 x 1.37 in in the manual) carrying 3,024 ABS plastic spikes on 144 discs and 144 dual-chip LEDs at 660 and 850 nm set among them. Hooga gives more than 100 mW/cm2 at the LED surface, 75 W of rated power and 35 W of actual power, and 0 µT at the surface. It runs from a wall adapter, and one button starts a fixed 15-minute session that ends with a beep and shuts off; the light has no other setting. The $199 price includes the controller, the power adapter and a matching pillow. The ETL, CE and RoHS marks in the manual are listed against the adapter.

Brand-level

Hooga is the trading name of Commerce Trading Group, LLC of New Berlin, Wisconsin, which sells direct from hoogahealth.com and through its own Amazon store; no major US retailer carries a Hooga device, so the retailer pool is empty at every level. Its Trustpilot profile reads 4.5 from 75 reviews, 80 percent five-star against 12 percent one-star. Hooga claimed the profile in January 2026 and has invited reviews since: seven of the 14 reviews written before the claim are one-star, against two of the 58 written since, and Hooga has answered every negative review. The recurring complaints there are return shipping charged to the buyer even on faulty units, pre-orders charged weeks before shipping, and support that answers first with an AI agent. The BBB rates Hooga B+ without accreditation, on a file opened in April 2026 with one complaint, resolved, and no Hooga device has been recalled.
