Usability
The DS300M is the cheapest under sink option in the range and its appeal is what it does not have: no pressure tank, no drain saddle, no wastewater and no pump. Three full-size cartridges give it more media than the single-cartridge StreamLine and a longer working life between changes, and running on line pressure means no wait for a tank to recover. The problem is that Express Water publishes almost nothing about it - no flow rate, no micron rating, no filter capacity, no dimensions and no certification of any kind - while claiming 95 percent reduction of major contaminants. Against the $86 StreamLine, which is certified to NSF/ANSI 42 and 53 and documented properly, the four dollars saved here buys considerably less confidence. It is a reasonable buy for chlorine and taste on a known-good municipal supply and a poor one for anything else.

The DS300M is a three-stage under sink filter running sediment, granular activated carbon and activated carbon block in standard 10 in housings, plumbed directly into the cold supply with no tank and no drain line. Express Water states reduction of up to 95 percent of major contaminants including chlorine, rust, volatile organic chemicals and sand. It weighs 14 lbs and carries a one-year warranty.
