Compact heated 24V battery, but parallel only

  • What it is: a 25.6 V, 60 Ah Group 27 LiFePO4 deep-cycle battery with a heater, Bluetooth and CAN/RS485 ports
  • The trade-off: an IP67 case, cold charging and built-in comms, but parallel-only banks and middling energy per pound
  • Not checked: the depth of discharge and end-of-life capacity behind the cycle rating, which Epoch does not publish
  • Look elsewhere for: a 24 V battery that can be wired in series, or one rated to start an engine

Strengths

  • Charges in freezing weather
  • Waterproof case rated for brief immersion
  • Bluetooth app with over-the-air updates
  • Victron communication ports built in
  • Long cycle rating

  • Epoch is the brand of Epoch Batteries LLC of Marietta, Georgia, a veteran-owned company that its store says was founded in 2019.
  • The EPOCH BATTERIES trademark for batteries is owned by EDG Sales International LLC of Stockbridge, Georgia, named as manufacturer on an Epoch UN38.3 test summary.

It sells with a cart at epochbatteries.com and through authorized dealers such as Current Connected, Blue Marine and Citimarine, after announcing a dealer-only switch for July 2025.

The Epoch DP2460H is a 25.6 V, 60 Ah deep-cycle LiFePO4 battery in the Pro Series, storing 1.54 kWh (1,536 Wh) in a BCI Group 27 case with sixteen cells in an 8S2P layout; Epoch plans runtime on about 1,229 Wh.

Its BMS allows 80 A continuous discharge (30 A recommended for daily use), 200 A for up to 3 seconds and 60 A charging, and cuts off a short circuit at 800 A within 500 µs.

With a charger connected in the cold, an internal heating film warms the battery to 10°C before charging, so it charges from −20 to 55°C and discharges from −20 to 60°C.

The Epoch Pro app shows state of charge, voltage, current, temperature and alerts over Bluetooth and installs firmware over the air, and CAN/RS485 Link in and Link out ports network a bank and talk to a Victron GX device.

Up to sixteen run in parallel (960 Ah); series wiring is not approved, and it is not a cranking battery. The IP67 case has heat-sink fins, a pressure-relief valve, a mounting bracket and M8 terminals, measures 12.25 x 6.75 x 9 in (311 x 171 x 229 mm) and weighs 30 lb (13.7 kg).

Epoch rates it for more than 6,000 cycles and offers its 24V 15A lithium charger with it for $169 and an optional 5 in touchscreen gauge.
