Twelve Stages, Ultrafiltration And RO Together
Expert Score

Running a 0.2 micron ultrafiltration membrane and an RO membrane in the same chassis is unusual, and it is the reason this system exists: UF handles bacteria, protozoa and colloids without wasting water, and the RO membrane handles dissolved solids the UF passes straight through. The 3.2 gallon stainless pressurised tank is a real upgrade over the steel-and-bladder tanks typical at 300 dollars, and the membrane is swappable up to 100 GPD with arsenic, nitrate and fluoride cartridges available for the same body. Crystal Quest recommends but does not include a leak detector valve, and says so plainly, which is more candour than most under-sink RO sellers offer. The stainless faucet option was listed as unavailable at the time of writing. There is no NSF/ANSI 58 listing, so the twelve-stage architecture is verifiable from the parts list and the performance is not.

PROS
  • Ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis membranes in the same chassis
  • 3.2 gallon stainless pressurised tank rather than a bladder tank
  • Membrane upgradeable to 75 or 100 GPD, cartridges swappable for arsenic, nitrate or fluoride
  • Lead-free long-reach faucet included
  • Leak detector valve offered and explicitly recommended rather than buried
CONS
  • No NSF/ANSI 58 listing, so no reduction figure is verified
  • Stainless faucet option listed as unavailable
  • No published recovery ratio or drain rate
  • No published cartridge or membrane replacement interval
  • One-year limited warranty and filter media cannot be returned

An under-sink system running twelve stages that combine ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis in the same chassis, supplied with a lead-free long-reach faucet and a 3.2 gallon stainless pressurised holding tank. The standard build uses a 50 GPD membrane with 75 and 100 GPD membranes available, and arsenic, nitrate, fluoride and remineraliser cartridges can be substituted. A leak detector and flood-prevention valve is offered as an option.

Social Scores

Social Score

Brand-level throughout. Crystal Quest is factory-direct with a thin independent review footprint, so every pool below is scored at brand level and the scope is named in each summary. The review widget on crystalquest.com is the manufacturer own collection and is not scored.

Reddit Score7.0

Brand-level, with one product-line mention. An r/WaterTreatment thread titled directly on Crystal Quest RO systems draws a reply from an installer saying the system is good and that they have installed several. An r/sandiego thread recommends the under-sink RO from years of use. Volume is low and neither is long-term reporting.

Google Score6.0

Brand-level. Independent coverage is thin and splits sharply: writeups credit the media breadth, US assembly and roughly 40 years of trading, and criticise the absence of any finished-system certification listing under the brand name at NSF, IAPMO or WQA. Crystal Quest holds an A+ BBB accreditation, which is a business rating rather than a product one. Much of the top-ranking material is affiliate roundup content carrying a discount code.

YouTube Score5.0

Brand-level. Most Crystal Quest video coverage is affiliate roundup content with a discount code rather than testing. A channel that lab-tests RO systems included the Crystal Quest Countertop Thunder in a 25-system comparison but not this under-sink model.

Amazon Score9.0

Brand-level. The Amazon brand insights panel on Crystal Quest listings shows 4.3 stars across more than 1,000 ratings, with 5,000-plus orders in the trailing three months. The pool is dominated by replacement cartridges and small point-of-use items, not the RO systems, so it says more about consumable reordering than about system performance.

User Review Score8.0

Brand-level. The Trustpilot profile for crystalquest.com carries a 4.0 rating across roughly 43 reviews, a small pool for a company of this age. Positive reports centre on water taste and on ordering the correct replacement part; negatives cluster after the sale, on returns and refunds.
